Description
Join Amy Wright Glenn, Institute Founder/Director, for a summer book study focusing on BoyMom: Reimagining Boyhood in an Age of Impossible Masculinity by Ruth Whippman.
We meet via Zoom on:
Wednesday, June 3 ~ 7-9pm
Wednesday, July 1 ~ 7-9pm
Wednesday, August 8 ~ 7-9pm
*Eastern Standard Time
We will divide “BoyMom” into 3-parts ~ meeting once a month in June, July, and August ~ focusing on:
* The Boy Crisis: Why are so many boys are struggling academically, emotionally, and experiencing deep loneliness leading to chronic screen addiction? Why do boys have such high suicide rates?
* Understanding “Toxic Masculinity”: What factors in our culture are toxic with regard to masculinity? How can we support their sons as they navigate the messages that link masculinity to aggression and a demeaning approach to women, LGBTQ+ communities, and all that is “feminine”?
* The Power of Emotional Intelligence & Reimagining Masculinity: When we are honest, forthright, compassionate, empathetic, nourishing and emotionally literate, we strengthen and protect the inner life of boys. We help our boys redefine what it means to be masculine in a humane, courageous, and emotionally literate way.
Even if you can’t join us live, know you are welcome to register and benefit from following along with the course via the recordings of our study circle.
