Online Training

Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss

With her profound compassion and intellect, Amy takes one of the most difficult subjects there is — death — and creates a safe space to deeply explore and learn. Her skills as a teacher, chaplain and doula beautifully synchronize for a comprehensive interactive training that I encourage ALL birth professionals to take. My professional life aside, I am a better human being after benefitting from the holistic ways Amy approached our study together.

~ Elizabeth Reiner, CPM and founder of Shifrah’s Sisters Holistic Birth Services

15-hour online, recorded, self-paced online training

Participants who register for this self paced, online experience will be guided through 5 recorded modules of study. Reading, writing, and personal reflection are central to preparing for each of the five modules.

All participants are required to read Holding Space — On Loving, Dying, and Letting Go by Amy Wright Glenn and  Ghostbelly by Elizabeth Heineman. Participants will apply three key components central to the training to Heineman’s honest and searing memoir.  These components are:

*An introduction to Holding Space and the Companioning Model of Care outlined by Alan Wolfelt, Founder and Director of the Center for Loss & Life Transition.

*An exploration of best “care practices” with regard to the various support networks surrounding bereaved mothers.

*A cross-cultural understanding of the healing power of ritual found in both religious and secular settings.

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must view the provided recordings as well as successfully turn in all assignments.

Amy will offer an online, 5-hour Advanced Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss training this September.

*Members of the Institute for the Study of Birth, Breath, and Death and INELDA receive 50 percent off of tuition — paying $100
